Nearly 150 upper class students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will be serving as Peer Mentors in the college's 20 Learning Communities for the 2016-2017 academic year. Mentors help new students in the college make the transition to life at Iowa State University. These selected Peer Mentors are often involved with organizing study groups, social events, and out-of-class activities. BVU students were recently honored at Buena Vista University's student recognition event.

Wartburg College has recognized 427 students who were named to the 2016 Winter/May Term Dean's List.

Graduating students in the Iowa State University Educator Preparation Program have been honored to designate their rank as professional educators. The graduates were bestowed with cords of light blue, the traditional color of academic tassels worn by those in the field of education, in a ceremony on Friday, May 6, in Stephen's Auditorium in Ames. The Iowa State University Educator Preparation Program comprises students and faculty in several colleges. The program is coordinated by the School of Education in the College of Human Sciences.

Nine BVU students were selected to present research projects at the annual Midwestern Psychological Association conference in Chicago.

Buena Vista University's twelfth annual Scholars Day was held Friday, April 22. The event provided students from all disciplines an opportunity to present their best presentations, original research, academic posters, artistic creations and performances to their peers, professors and the public.

Patrice Crall, a senior psychology major from Panama, co-authored the paper, "Lavish Life and Disturbed Disposition: Personality Analysis of Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men," that has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Psychological Inquiry. She has also been accepted into the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's program at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Over the course of spring semester, Iowa State University students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences took their learning outside the classroom and into a totally hands-on environment. The students traveled to places like Argentina, Brazil and Costa Rica over Spring Break, and to St. John for the semester, to learn more about chosen areas of study.

The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences has announced returning students who will receive scholarships from the School of Education for the 2015-16 academic year

Iowa State University announced the continuing students who will receive scholarships from the College of Human Sciences for the 2015-16 academic year.

A group of 30 Iowa State University undergraduate students stretched their learning through research and laboratory experience in the Science with Practice program. Students participating in Science with Practice develop individualized learning agreements and project goals with Iowa State faculty mentors. At the conclusion of the semester, participants presented their projects at a poster session open to the public.
