On May 4, 2018, the School of Education corded graduates from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on recognition of their completion of the teacher preparation academic program. The Iowa State University Forestry Club Timbersports Team took third place at the Midwestern Forester's Conclave held at University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point on April 19-21, 2018. This annual event is designed to showcase various forestry skills and techniques among members of Forestry Clubs throughout the Midwest. To be a competitor, students must be a member of a member-institution's Society of American Foresters (SAF) organization or recognzied Forestry Club.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the 2018 Study Abroad Grant recipients for Session A. The grants, worth $1,000, were awarded to 50 students nationwide.

Buena Vista University's (BVU) fourteenth annual Scholars Day was held Saturday, April 28. The event provided students from all disciplines an opportunity to present their best original research, academic posters, artistic creations, and performances to their peers, professors, and the public.

The Simpson College debate team captures national title at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament held at Tennessee State University in Nashville.

Iowa State University students participated in the 2018 Southern Agricultural Economics Association (SAEA) undergraduate quiz bowl competition. The event, held February 2-6, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida, was an excellent way for students to further their economics knowledge and network with professionals from across the country. The group of eight undergraduates attending had a strong showing overall in the tournament of 32 teams.

The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences will recognize the accomplishments of six outstanding graduating seniors as well as hundreds of their peers at the College of Human Sciences convocation on Dec. 16.

Students who complete an internship partner with a faculty member and employer to augment in-class learning with on-the-job training. Students gain critical thinking, communication and professional skills while completing a minimum of 120 hours working in their chosen industry.

Over 150 upper class students will be serving as Peer Mentors in the more than 20 Iowa State University Learning Communities with ties to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) for the 2017-2018 academic year. Mentors help new students in the college make the transition to life at Iowa State. These selected Peer Mentors are often involved with organizing study groups, social events, and out-of-class activities.
